What is a Hooded Eyelid?

Hooded eyelids are the result of a small flap of excess skin under each eyebrow. Just like your eye and hair color, your eyelids are a genetic trait. However, your hooded eyelid can progressively become more noticeable as you age. Hooded eyelids are generally harmless, but they can cause discomfort and even make it harder to see. Some people simply don’t like the appearance of their hooded eyelids and would like more of an arched and lifted look.

At Essential Aesthetics, we offer a variety of long-lasting, non-surgical options to give your hooded eyes a lift.

Non-Surgical Hooded Eyelid Treatments

Botox & Dysport

What is a Botox Brow Lift?

A Botox brow lift allows us to achieve that Bella Hadid car eye looks with no downtime. Our expert aesthetic injector,  Ellie Zarnegar, PA, DMSc, will strategically inject neurotoxins such as Botox or Dysport to the muscles that drag the eyebrows down. This causes a physical lift of the brows that can last for up to 5 months.

How Does a Brow Lift with Botox Work?

The corrugator muscles, also known as your “11s”, are depressor muscles of the inner part of the eyebrows. When these muscles are relaxed with neuromodulators, the front half of the brows becomes lifted. The orbicularis muscles (crow’s feet) are lateral depressor muscles around the eyes. Injecting Botox or Dysport in the crow’s feet allows your eyebrows to arch upwards, creating a foxy eyelift. This overall “chemical lift” by Botox in the eye region also helps to reduce the appearance of your hooded eyelids.

Dermal Fillers

How Does Filler Help With Hooded Eyelids?

Volume loss in the eyebrows can result in the appearance of saggy skin in the upper eyelids. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm can be injected into the area right above the upper eyelid and below the brow bone to add volume and help restore the fullness that gets lost due to genetics or age. When injected into the outer brow, dermal fillers can also give the brows more projection and improve their height.

Resurfacing Lasers

Fractional Eye Lift

Non-ablative resurfacing lasers stimulate deep collagen regeneration to tighten the skin with little skin damage, making the healing process quick. This laser helps reduce the appearance of dark circles, crow’s feet, and wrinkles around the eyes while helping tighten the upper and lower eyelids.

RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling allows tightening of the skin around the eyes by creating controlled micro wounds to encourage the generation of new and healthy skin. These tiny wounds trigger the production of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid which helps create a lifted look in the eyebrows.

Am I A Candidate for Non-Surgical Hooded Eyelid Treatment?

If you are looking for an overall lift in your eye region, you are a candidate for a non-surgical eyelift. Patients who suffer from severe upper lid sagging caused by a buildup of fatty tissue beneath the skin, those whose peripheral vision is impaired, and if their lower eyelid is completely pulled down and shows sclera, are not a candidate for non-surgical eyelid treatment.

At the time of your consultation, our certified medical provider, Ellie Zarnegar, PA, DMSc, will discuss the different treatments we offer and determine which is best for you.
