This November, Ditch the Turkey Wattle

November is a great month to enjoy turkey at the Thanksgiving table and a great month to get rid of that turkey neck you see in the mirror. Essential Aesthetics offers two distinct treatment options for a double chin or turkey wattle. In this blog post, let’s dive deeper into both procedures to help you learn how you can look your best in time for the upcoming winter holidays and the New Year.

KYBELLA

Injectable KYBELLA is one of the most innovative procedures we’ve seen in quite some time, and it’s deceptively simple. KYBELLA uses an active ingredient called deoxycholic acid, which is naturally produced by the digestive tract. In this context, it helps to break down fat from our foods to make them easily digestible. When injected beneath the skin, it works the same way to dissolve fat. KYBELLA is the first injectable product to be FDA approved to treat double chin. Although KYBELLA typically requires 2 to 4 sessions spaced about a month apart to achieve optimal results, once the fat is gone, it’s typically gone for good.

CoolSculpting

The CoolMini™ applicator is perfectly sized to deliver fat-freezing power to the bulge beneath the chin. This non-invasive option doesn’t use needles, anesthesia, or an incision to reduce fat. Instead, it uses fat cells’ sensitivity to cold and freezing, eventually destroying them in a comfortable 1-hour office visit. After treatment, the affected fat cells take some time to disappear. After a few weeks, patients should begin to notice initial improvements, with continuing definition developing over the next month or two. Some people are satisfied with the results of one CoolSculpting treatment, while others will return for one or two more treatments.

Neither KYBELLA nor CoolSculpting require any downtime, so you’ll be able to return to your normal daily activities as soon as your procedure is over. Additionally, the results of both treatments are incredibly long-lasting and potentially even permanent. The best treatment for you will likely come down to your personal preference. While some people shy away from needles, the in-office time for a CoolSculpting appointment is longer than for KYBELLA, so it may not fit your busy schedule. We can assist you at your initial consultation if you’re having difficulty deciding.
