Get rid of your double chin with KYBELLA

Essential Aesthetics
KYBELLA®

KYBELLA is an injectable treatment for reducing submental fat, also known as a “double chin.” It contains a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that assists in the breakdown of fat and absorption. If you’re thinking about using KYBELLA to treat your double chin, here’s a summary of the procedure:

  • Consultation: Schedule a consultation with our advanced aesthetics Provider, trained in administering KYBELLA. During the consultation, PA Ellie DMSc, will assess your condition, discuss your treatment goals, and determine whether KYBELLA is an appropriate option.

  • Customized Treatment Plan: If KYBELLA suits your needs, the healthcare provider will create a customized treatment plan. The number of KYBELLA sessions required varies depending on individual factors, such as the amount of submental fat and desired results.

  • Administering Injection: On the day of treatment, the healthcare provider will administer KYBELLA injections into precise locations under your chin. The number of injections and the amount of KYBELLA used will be determined based on your treatment plan. A topical anesthetic or ice may be applied to the area beforehand to minimize discomfort.

  • Outcome and Recovery time: Following the KYBELLA treatment, you can expect some swelling, redness, and mild discomfort in the treated area. These side effects are temporary and typically subside within a few days to weeks. It’s important to follow any post-treatment instructions provided by your healthcare professional.

  • Multiple Sessions: KYBELLA treatment often involves multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart. The number of sessions required depends on your specific situation and treatment goals. Your healthcare provider will advise you on the recommended treatment schedule.

  • Injections of Kybella are typically administered in a series of sessions separated by a few weeks; the precise number of sessions required depends on individual factors and treatment objectives. The procedure typically lasts between 15 and 20 minutes, and most patients can return to normal activities shortly after that.

Frequently asked questions:

“Is Kybella only for the chin?”

Kybella is most typically used to treat double chins, but it can also be used to address persistent fat in the armpits, jowls, and brats. Although these uses are not FDA approved, they are at the discretion of your aesthetic provider.

“What to avoid after getting Kybella?”

Avoid alcohol, caffeine, niacin supplements, high sodium foods, high sugar foods, refined carbs, spicy foods, and cigarettes for at least 24-48 hours after treatment.

“How long does Kybella last?”

While Kybella permanently reduces fat cells in the treated area, other factors such as skin laxity, muscle tone, and overall aging can all have an impact on the appearance of your neck and chin.

It is important to note that KYBELLA is only authorized for treating submental fat but can be used in other body parts. As with any medical procedure, KYBELLA injections may cause adverse effects such as localized edema, bruising, numbness, or pain.
