What is Dysport?
Dysport is an injectable treatment that has been approved by the FDA to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dynamic lines in the upper face for both men and women. This product is manufactured by Galderma, the same company that makes Restylane and Sculptra. Dysport is highly effective in treating moderate to severe wrinkles that appear between the eyebrows, forehead, and around the eyes. It works as a neuromodulator, similar to Botox, by blocking nerve impulses to your facial muscles, which results in their relaxation. This relaxation leads to softened wrinkles and lines, leaving you with a more youthful appearance.
What is the difference between BOTOX and DYSPORT?
Dysport and Botox are two brand names of cosmetic injectables that work to relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines. They are similar in their function, as they both belong to the same class of injectables and work on the same principles. However, the formula of Dysport is slightly different from that of Botox. Both Dysport and Botox are neuromodulators that work by relaxing the muscles responsible for creating wrinkles when injected in tiny quantities. The main difference lies in their formulation, and some people may find that they respond better to one or the other. How does DYSPORT work?
Dysport works similarly to BOTOX by using molecules that block transmission at the neuromuscular junction. However, Dysport uses a slightly different molecule than BOTOX. Dysport temporarily stops the contraction of muscles that are responsible for crow’s feet and frown lines by blocking the signal from the nerve to the muscle. The untreated muscles continue to function normally, allowing you to express yourself naturally and confidently.
What is DYSPORT used for?
Dysport is a product that can be used to treat major dynamic lines on the face, such as horizontal brow lines, frown lines between the eyebrows (also known as “11” lines), and lines around the eyes (known as crow’s feet). It can also be used to treat other facial areas, like the masseter and chin muscles. Additionally, Dysport can help reduce excessive sweating in areas like the underarms, hands, and feet.
How long does DYSPORT last?
It is typical for Dysport injections to provide results lasting from 3 to 5 months. However, the duration of the results may vary depending on the amount of Dysport injected and how quickly the patient’s metabolic rate processes the substance. If the amount of Dysport injected is insufficient, the results may fade after two months. Injection specialists always provide patients with recommendations and instructions to ensure long-lasting, beautiful results. They advise patients to maintain a good skincare routine, which should include using high-quality products to cleanse and moisturize the skin and wearing a strong SPF to protect the skin from sun damage. These skincare routines should be followed regardless of the treatment type.
What is the recovery like for DYSPORT?
Dysport is a non-surgical and non-invasive treatment that requires no recovery period. You can return to your usual routine, including work or school, immediately after the session. However, it is recommended to avoid rubbing the skin for at least 12 hours to prevent any discomfort or swelling. If you experience any discomfort, ibuprofen can help alleviate the symptoms. For a few weeks after the injection, it is advised to avoid intense exercise, sun exposure, and alcoholic beverages. You will receive detailed instructions for aftercare and a follow-up plan from the office.
