CoolSculpting for the Double Chin
CoolSculpting selectively freezes fat cells using a controlled cooling technique called Cryolipolysis. The CoolMini applicator is specifically designed to address small, isolated pockets of fat, making it perfect to use for the chin.
During your CoolSculpting session, the device is applied under your chin and held in place with a strap around your head. Our CoolSculpting specialist, Ellie Zarnegar, PA, DMSc, will activate the device for the cooling to begin. You will begin to feel the cold sensation, which may be uncomfortable at first, but will pass after 10 minutes into the treatment. During this time, you can relax, read, or watch a movie to pass the time. The session can last anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours depending on the severity of your double chin. Patients normally need more than one session to eliminate all of the unwanted fat. CoolSculpting results are permanent because of the permanent destruction of fat cells.
Kybella
Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that helps with the breakdown and absorption of fat. When injected into the double chin, it dissolves the fat, creating a sculpted, attractive jawline that lasts.
During your Kybella session, you will receive a series of small injections beneath your chin. The number of injections you receive depends on the amount of fullness. You will feel minimal discomfort during the treatment and it normally lasts about 45 minutes. Most patients achieve desired results after a series of 3 treatments spaced out 4 to 6 weeks apart. CoolSculpting results are permanent because of the permanent destruction of fat cells.
Radiofrequency Therapy for the Double Chin
RF skin tightening and microneedling are non-invasive body contouring combination treatments. The skin tightening portion of the treatments delivers RF heat to the area in a safe and controlled manner to stimulate collagen production and elastin fibers and melt the fat. This helps to tighten and lift the skin on the neck and jowls. The RF microneedling creates micro-wounds that trigger the production of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid.
During your RF treatment session, a cool gel will be applied under the chin and the device applicator will be guided over the area for 15-30 minutes. Afterward, a topical numbing is applied for 10-15 minutes to help with any discomfort of the microneedling. The microneedling handpiece will be used to create small perforation and begin the collagen regeneration process. Patients normally need 8-10 treatments spaced out in 2 to 4-week intervals.
Jawline Contouring
Dermal fillers can be used to contour the jawline and the chin, reducing the appearance of your double chin. Although it doesn’t get rid of the fat that causes a double chin, fillers help your overall profile look lifted and slimmer. Unlike CoolSculpting and Kybella, this is not a permanent solution, however, it does produce quick and immediate results.
