How to Treat Acne and Acne
Acne is one of the most common skin concerns in men and women of all ages. If left untreated, persistent cystic acne lesions can leave permanent scarring in the skin. At Essential Aesthetics, we offer Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photorejuvenation and resurfacing treatment for both acne and acne scarring to give you clear, glowing skin.
Our patients in the Danville, San Ramon, and Walnut Creek areas now have access to the powerful laser on the market to treat more than 30 skin conditions and hair removal.
IPL Photorejuvenation for Acne
IPL Photorejuvenation is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that addresses p.acne bacteria and the pigmentation and redness of the skin that comes along with acne. This “lunch-time” treatment is effective and has fewer side effects than oral medications Accutane and Doxycycline. During your treatment, short pulses of intense light are transmitted into the skin, penetrating various layers and killing acne bacteria while reducing the inflammation or sebum excess (skin oil) production that causes acne.
for Acne Scarring
At Essential Aesthetics, we offer a unique Photofractional technology that combines IPL and resurfacing to help improve skin tone and texture at the same time. Our resurfacing laser is a non-ablative skin resurfacing technology that stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin fibers in the deep layers of the skin.
Photoacoustic Fractional Laser
Photoacoustic energy stimulates new collagen so that the skin is renewed, resulting in a brighter and more even skin tone. Many lasers cannot be used on certain skin tones because of the side effects on darker skin, but our photoacoustic fractional laser is suitable for all skin tones because it uses non-thermal energy.
I See Results?
Laser for acne and acne scarring takes a series of treatments to achieve optimal results. Not everyone will have the same results, so typically 4-6 sessions are required in 2-6 week intervals in between treatments. Most patients report seeing results after their third treatment.
Acne and acne scarring treatments are quick and comfortable treatments that usually take 15-30 minutes to complete. A topical anesthetic is applied to your skin shortly before the procedure, after which clinical director Dr. Ellie Zarnegar applies the laser handpiece to the treatment area to deliver brief pulses of laser energy.
As the laser energy stimulates tissue, your skin will create more of its own collagen, as well as accelerating the cycle of replacing the outer layers of damaged skin. Patients may experience some slight redness and swelling for a short period afterward.
